Ruth Roberts Music: Bio

Ruth Roberts

The creator of scores of songs in virtually every genre, Ruth Roberts is best-known for her children's songs, sports songs, and love songs.

In the 1950s, '60s, '70s, and onward, Roberts' romantic ballads and playful upbeat tunes were recorded by the popular artists of the day, including such huge-selling stars as Dean Martin, Theresa Brewer, Jimmy Dean, The McGuire Sisters, Patti Page, Debbie Reynolds, Vic Damone, Arthur Godfrey, Steve Allen and Eydie Gorme.

Fab Four

Ruth Roberts remains one of a select group of songwriters who has had a song recorded by the Beatles, whose version of her "Mailman Bring Me No More Blues" is on the Anthology 3 album.

Play Ball

A lifelong baseball fan, Roberts created original music honoring this uniquely American game, some of which became the popular classics we've all been hearing -- and often singing -- since childhood. The extraordinarily popular "Meet the Mets" became the theme song for the New York Mets; and "It's a Beautiful Day for a Ball Game" endures to this day as the theme for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sports fans will also recognize "Mr. Touchdown" and "I Love Mickey Mantle."

Licensing

Note to music supervisors, producers, directors, and programers in all media: Roberts' classic love songs, lively up-tempo tunes, and recognizable sports songs are available for use in films, television shows, theatrical productions, and radio airplay.
